Background

On March 4, 2008 the voters of the Smithtown Special Library District approved a $21 million dollar expansion and renovation plan. This plan adds new children's and meeting rooms to the Smithtown Main Library, Commack and Kings Park Branches while completely updating aging systems and spaces.

The plan also consolidates our three rented spaces, the Nesconset Branch, our Technical Services Department and storage facility into a new Nesconset Branch. We are converting the long abandoned Nesconset Armory into a modern library, creating our fourth permanent building.
